Personality:
This is Simba, in his own company he is quite a laid back Lionhead rabbit, who particularly loves to loaf in his outdoor run basking in the sun. He does get a spring in his step when his human friends come by to spend some time with him, especially if they have some forage for him to snuffle for. But, most importantly he would like a neutered female rabbit to bond with.
Behaviour:
When Simba originally arrived to us, he was a bit nervous and needed a slow approach to build up his confidence and trust. After quite some time in our care, he came out of his shell and took everything in his stride with a regular routine. Even after being returned to us, Simba is still the confident chap we knew, but companionship of his own kind would aid him well, to give him what his human friends cannot. He would require at least one meeting where staff can discuss Simba and his requirements. Bonding of the rabbits can be discussed too. Simba was sadly returned to the shelter after his bond with his female companion broke down in the previous home. It is expected this occurred because the dynamic did not work living in a indoor only set-up, where there are a high volume of different smells and sounds. Additionally, the variety of areas/rooms in an indoor set up, could have created conflict over territory. Therefore, we feel Simba would be better suited to an outdoor enclosure, where there is less confusion over his space with his new bonded mate. The ability to graze on grass is desired to allow Simba to regularly use his natural behaviours.
Housing:
• Rabbits must have a minimum living space of 3 metres long x 2 metres wide x 1 metre high, with 24-hour access at all times.
• All outdoor accommodation (sheds/aviaries) must be fully predator-proof.
• Wire mesh must be a minimum of 16-gauge thickness.
Sheds must have secure/opening windows to allow for natural light and ventilation.
Children/pets:
Simba can live around other animals, but to be kept separately. He can also live with children of secondary school age (11 years+). Younger children must be supervised if interacting/handling with the rabbits.
Vet history:
Simba is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He has also had a full teeth check and has no current health issues.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
