Charlie

Name: Charlie

Age: 2 years 3 months approx

Sex: Male

Breed: Domestic Long Hair

Ref number: 179

Personality:
Charlie came into our care after his owner unfortunately passed away. He found the cattery environment really stressful and would spend his time hiding away. Charlie is lucky enough to currently be in a foster home where it took him a few months but he has started to settle well and is now feeling brave enough to spend time with his foster family. He can still be a bit shy and will occasionally give a little hiss but he is getting braver and more confident every day due to his foster family doing everything at a pace Charlie feels comfortable with.

Behaviour:
Charlie has had a lot of change in the last few months and as a result can take a little while to settle and learn to trust you. Over the last couple of weeks he has grown in confidence and is now starting to feel more at home whilst on foster due to a calm and predictable routine being provided. Charlie can be an inquisitive boy who likes to know what everyone in the home is doing and will usually join them in the lounge, he has even started sitting next to his foster family on the sofa and can often be found grooming himself to maintain his good looks! Now Charlie is feeling more settled he has shown his playful side, he will play with toys by himself and will sometimes take some to his foster family so they can join in the fun.

Housing:
Charlie really relies on his safe space being respected and finds new surroundings a little scary, so for this reason he will need his own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. He cannot be homed in Portsmouth (PO1 area).

Children/pets:
Charlie did come into our care with his brother but our camera footage shows they were not bonded and they actively chose space away from each other, for this reason he will need to be an only pet. Due to Charlies nervous nature he would be best suited in a calm and quiet adult only home with owners who will be patient and respect his space whilst he settles.

Vet history:
Charlie is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Charlie has a grade 1 heart murmur. He has no other known medical conditions. Charlie has been on some medication to help him relax whilst in our care which we are in the process of reducing his dose. This will be provided for his new home and a plan will be given on how to gradually wean him off of this. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.
