Name: Tom
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
Breed: Guinea Pig
Ref number: 6
Personality:
This is Tom! Tom is a very sweet and inquisitive boy who enjoys a gentle head stroke and a tickle behind his ears from his human friends. Tom’s favourite time of the day is veggie time, you will hear him making lots of excited squeaks and even a bit of popcorning when he knows its dinner time!
Behaviour:
When Tom arrived in our care, he was being housed with another male guinea pig. Unfortunately due to fighting they had to be split up. He is now looking for companionship with a neutered female. When Tom arrived with us, we noticed that he had limited vision in both eyes. Due to this dissability, when it comes to bonding him with a female piggy, it may take a little longer than a normal bonding.
Housing:
Tom is looking for either an indoor or outdoor enclosure, which must be a minimum of 6ft x 2ft (for two guinea pigs). This can be an indoor C&C pen or a large outdoor shed/wendy house. Housing can be discussed with staff, but we do not rehome to hutches. He needs to be bonded with at least one female piggie or more, but the enclosure size would need to accommodate the amount of piggies in the group. The ability to provide secure time in the garden on grass is preferred.
Children/pets:
Tom can live around other pets, but to be kept separately. He can also live with children of primary school age (5-11 years), but young children must have adult supervision if interacting/handling the guinea pigs.
Vet history:
As mentioned above, Tom has reduced visibility in each eye. He has seen an eye specialist and his eyes are nice and healthy. Tom’s limited vision does not affect his life and he can still enjoy doing normal piggie things!
