Smokey

Name: Smokey

Age: 1 year 6 months approx

Sex: Male

Breed: DSH

Ref number: 98

Smokey was petrified when he first came into our care and spent most of his time in his carrier during the day when staff were around. He has made lots of progress recently and although he is still a shy boy, he is beginning to enjoy company from staff and show his loving self. Smokey takes his time trusting new people but once he does he’s an affectionate boy who enjoys a fuss.

Smokey loves his food and is a clever boy when it comes to his enrichment. Smokey is starting to gain more confidence in the cattery environment and will come out from his igloo bed and either initiate for fuss or is happy to settle nearby you. He can be a little hand shy at times so we let him come to us when he wants attention. Smokey is noise sensitive so if he is unsure he will go to his safe space in his igloo bed. He loves dreamies so he will often make a quick appearance when he hears the packet rustle. Smokey has shown interest in toys but has not yet been brave enough to play so once settled in a home environment he will likely show a playful side to him.

Smokey does prefer the safety of his igloo bed/carrier and finds new surroundings a little scary, so for this reason he will need his own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. He cannot be homed in Bursledon (SO31 area)

Smokey needs to be an only pet in the household due to his nervous nature. Smokey is looking for a quiet adult only home.

Smokey is neutered, microchipped, flea and wormed. His second vaccination is due between 2/9/24 -8/9/24 at the shelter and the cost is included in the adoption fee.

Smokey has no known medical conditions.

Smokey has been on some medication to help him relax while in our care. This will be provided for his new home and a plan will be given on how to gradually wean him off of this.

4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £80. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.
