Rehoming – Profile

History:

Princess came into our care as her owner could no longer keep her.

Behaviour observations on site:

Princess is a sweet little girl who has a spring in her step and a zest for life. She adores the company of her trusted people and is excited to greet them with a bouncy reception.

Princess has had a rocky start to life. It is likely that she was under-socialised as a puppy, as she can be scatty around unpredictable noises and vocal around dogs. Now that she is familiar with our site and off-lead areas, Princess enjoys letting loose and having the zoomies!

Princess is interested in other friendly dogs but can become frustrated on the lead which leads to her being vocal. Going forward, Princess would really benefit from regular socialisation classes with a positive reinforcement dog training company or behaviourist. This would allow her to relax around other dogs and stimuli from a safe distance.

On site, Princess has bonded well with multiple people. All handlers have built a relationship by offering her space and allowing her to approach in her own time. Future adopters will need to have a great understanding of canine body language and calming signals, so they understand when she is truly comfortable and when she is unsure.

Princess loves one of our male members of staff but has displayed fear around unknown men, specifically in hats. This has demonstrated to us that with a calm approach Princess can build bonds with people she may initially be unsure of, providing things are taken slow and gradual and at her pace.

Princess’ beautiful curly locks will need to be maintained by a trusted handler. This would involve her getting used to short bouts of brushing and trimming to maintain good coat care. Princess’ sensitive nature means that she would benefit from regular meet and greet appointments at the vets so this can become somewhere she pops by for a snack now and then. Princess has been trained to wear her muzzle using positive reinforcement and can now have it popped on for short periods.

Princess is looking for an adopter who is willing to gain an excellent understanding of her needs. Adopters will need to commit to supporting her to flourish in a calm, quiet, predictable forever home.

Adoption fee: £180 If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Medical history:

Princess currently has no medical problems but is on Trazadone and Gabapentin for kennel stress

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
