Rehoming – Profile

History:

Pom Bear came into the shelter originally as a stray.

Behaviour observations on site:

Pom bear is a bundle of energy who enjoys playing and will happily walk for miles. He can take time to make friends and is unsure of over handling by new people, once he feels comfortable with you he is such a cuddly boy!

Pom bear is currently being muzzled trained as he finds vet visits stressful, this will need to be continued in his new home.

Experience of the breed type will be essential to fully understand his traits and needs. He will need regular grooming as he has a thick double coat.

Pom bear will thrive in a quiet home with a secure garden to play in and active people who can give him long regular walks.

He may require multiple visits with potential adopters here at the shelter before going into a new home. New adopters must feel comfortable allowing Pombear to initiate contact on his own terms, especially when it comes to meeting new people. It may be beneficial to walk Pombear on a ‘caution’ lead or similar, to highlight to people that he is not comfortable being approached by those he does not know.

Pombear is currently quite vocal when left alone, it is difficult to tell whether or not this is down to being in kennels or if he is suffering from separation anxiety. New adopters should be prepared to potentially work through some separation anxiety related behaviours in the future.

With time and patience, Pombear will make a fantastic companion. When trust is gained, he is such a wonderful boy who loves affection and to be groomed.

Cannot be rehomed to Portsmouth

Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £180

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Medical history:

Pom bear has seen our vet and currently has no medical issues. He has had his vaccinations, flea and worming whilst in our care.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
