Oakley

Name: Oakley

Age: 3 years

Sex: Male

Breed: Domestic Short Hair

Ref number: 41

Personality:
Oakley likes spending time with staff and volunteers and since coming into our care, he has been an affectionate and chilled back boy. He is friendly, chatty (when he knows its meal times) and likes to rest at height in his unit to get the best view of his surroundings. Oakley can get a little nervous at times when there is external noises he is unsure of.

Behaviour:
Oakley quickly comes over to greet you when you enter his unit. He is keen to come out onto the cattery floor to explore and watch through the mesh, making the most of the fresh air. In his playful outbursts, he keeps entertained by stalking and pouncing at the feather stick toys and chasing after the soft mouse toys; then followed by a roll in some catnip. He often checks in with you, enjoying some gentle strokes and will sometimes get on your lap.

Housing:
Oakley will return to his unit if he gets spooked whilst exploring on the cattery floor so for this reason he would benefit from a quiet space or room to initially settle in for a few days before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. He cannot be rehomed to the Southampton SO16 area.

Children/pets:
Oakley could live with junior school aged children who will be calm and gentle around him. Whilst we believe this animal to be happy around young children, they should be supervised at all times. Oakley cannot live with other cats or dogs.

Vet history:
Oakley is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Oakley has very mild intermittent equal vertical nystagmus (vertical involuntary eye movement), and has been suspected to have had previous head trauma. Oakley does not require any ongoing treatment currently, however his new owners should monitor for any change in his nystagmus or new neurological signs/symptoms and to inform your chosen vet. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal
