Miscellaneous Socialiser

The Role

Our Miscellaneous animals include rabbits, rats, ferrets, guinea pigs, small rodents, farm stock animals and poultry.

Our aim is to get all our misc animals used to all the things they will come across in a new home. This is anything from a simple 10 minute brush, talking to them, having a cuddle or sitting in their run with them. Some of our animals haven’t had a great start to life so they need to start to trust people again.

Please send in your application form and we will invite you to complete some online health and safety paperwork. We will then book a date for you to complete some hands on training sessions with our staff and experienced misc socialisers. Then you will be able to work with the misc animals independently.

Skills

You must be able to communicate effectively with people and accurate completion of documents is essential. A friendly, confident approach is also desirable as is experience of having worked with a range of misc animals or owning them.

Hours

Once you are trained, misc socialisers are welcome to work in the misc department every day of the week between 11am and 4pm. We would prefer a minimum of 2 hours per visit.

Who

If you are thinking of applying to be a volunteer miscellaneous socialiser you would need to be 21 or over. This is a great role for those who enjoy meeting new people whilst volunteering to help animals.
