Name: Marvin
Age: 18 weeks
Sex: Male
Breed: Hamster
Ref number: 21
Personality:
Marvin is a fluffy boy that is very curious, he will often reach up towards you to give you a sniff. We’ve found that he’s not used to being handled and will give out a small warning call to let you know he’s not too happy. So taking things at his own pace will be important to help gain his trust and build his confidence with interaction and handling.
Behaviour:
Like all hamsters Marvin is nocturnal so spends his time sleeping during the day, but comes awake at night. To help keep Marvin active we scatter his food around his enclosure, this encourages foraging behavior. We’ve also found that Marvin enjoys a dried mealworm treat, he takes them from your hand quite gently or we’ve placed them into a forage toy where Marvin has to work to try and retrieve them.
Housing:
The minimum requirements are 100cm long x 50cm wide of unbroken floor space, they will need depth for bedding as hamsters are burrowers. Please talk to staff for recommendations.
Children/pets:
Can live with secondary school aged children, we recommend 11 years +. Can live around other pets in a separate room.
Vet history:
Marvin’s rib cage is slightly off and one of his bones on his chest slightly sticks out. This has been checked over by a vet and is a birth deficiency which does not affect his quality of life.
Additional information:
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the Hamster.
