Lenny

Name: Lenny

Age: 18 weeks

Sex: Male

Breed: Greyhound/Whippet

Ref number: 102

Personality:
Lenny is a handsome boy with a zest for life. He is a cocktail of emotions after a rocky start in life and a sudden transition into rescue. Lenny loves to run, play and chew but can be wary of loud noises and the busy fast paced life. He flourishes in calm settings where he has the opportunity to process his surroundings and relax into the environment.

Behaviour:
Lenny struggles with frustration and hasn’t yet learnt how to work through this. This can result in jumping and grabbing behaviours. Lenny needs support and tools to guide him through this difficult time. He can be unsure of novel experiences including busy environments and high arousal situations, for example; being off lead, exploring new things and meeting other dogs. Lenny is looking for an adopter who can offer him outlets for his natural behaviours in a calm and controlled way. Lenny also needs a calm and positive approach to handling, at a pace he feels comfortable. Lenny is looking for a committed owner who is prepared to enroll him in 121 classes and accept the support from our behaviour team.

Housing:
Lenny will need someone who enjoys canine behaviour and training as he will definitely be a project until he settles into his new home and learns some boundaries. This may take a lot of time initially. Lenny will need access to a private garden but could be left for a couple of hours a day. Lenny would benefit from having his own room downstairs or somewhere that he can be separated until he has learnt appropriate boundaries.

Children/pets:
Lenny must be homed in an adult only home and at this stage should not be introduced to any children until he has learnt some manners with greeting new people. He will also need to be the only pet in the home. He would enjoy having dog friends to walk and play with but will need gradual introductions to these.

Vet history:
Lenny is fully vaccinated, flea and wormed. He will need to come back to the shelter to be castrated when he is old enough.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £200. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal
