Rehoming – Profile

Jasper was signed over in March, as his owner couldn’t look after him anymore.

Behaviour observations on site:

Jasper is a sweet dog who is such a typical staffie boy! He lacks some manners when it comes to meeting new people and around handling. He can become quite over excited and mouthy towards hands and may nip when saying hello.

Jasper loves affection and having cuddles, but we have been doing lots of calming work with him so that he doesn’t get himself too over aroused when being handled, he is doing really well but does still get over excited on occasions. Jasper can also at times rag the lead if frustrated.

Jasper has been very well behaved here at the shelter when it comes to harnessing and walking on lead. Jasper generally walks at your side and is not bothered by cars, cyclists and passing people, he is good with passing dogs if they ignore and don’t stare, however if they get too close, Jasper becomes uncomfortable and may react. For this reason we advise he wears a muzzle when around other dogs. Jasper is highly food motivated, which means that training him is rewarding and much easier. We have started muzzle training here at the shelter and he is doing well! New adopters must be willing to use a muzzle and be happy to work with the staff here before he goes home.

Jaspers favourite activity is rolling around in the grass and would spend his entire walk dog this if he could! Jasper will make a real staffie enthusiast very happy, his staffie smile is infectious and we can’t wait to see him settled in his forever home!

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Medical history:

Jasper has a joint supplement once a day to help mobility.
