Rehoming – Profile

History:

Jasper was brought into us as a young boy as he had some knee issues that the owners were not able to treat. He has been with us since and undergone some major surgeries to fix his knee issues. He is doing well with his recovery so far.

Behaviour observations on site:

Jasper LOVES life and thrives off the company of humans. His boundless enthusiasm for meeting new people and dogs is both amazing and quite unusual. He is very friendly towards people and dogs and he is very affectionate. He is still a baby and has been through the mill with his surgeries but he still is a happy, optimistic and enthusiastic boy willing to explore and learn and he has a truly great nature.

He spent a lot of his youth in kennels so a few things about the world can worry him. For example, he can be a little worried going into buildings he hasn’t been in before. With some gentle encouragement and taking things at his pace he is quick to be brave.

Jasper is very enthusiastic and loves to explore everything by putting anything in his mouth. He responds very well to training and is a clever chap. He has been learning touch target, focussed lead walking, impulse control and other bits. He catches on quickly. He also loves to lie down close to you for cuddle, belly rubs and to watch the world go by. He LOVES toys to carry, destroy, hold on to and will be so thankful when you give him a new one it’s incredibly cute.

Jasper has had two major surgeries on his knees so will be looking for a home that is willing to continue to  help him on his physical journey through exercises, physio or anything else that may be good for him. He loves to do things and he doesn’t let any physical problems limit him. We have to help him to not over do it as he would happily throw himself around.

Jasper loves other dogs and he gets quite excited, but does really well with controlled meeting and then calms and just enjoys their company. He would enjoy being the only dog or part of a multi-dog household if the dogs were sturdy but not too boisterous as he will need time to build muscle on his legs and continue his recovery.

Jasper is looking for a home that has some experience with larger breeds, as he is only young and in his adolescence so will need someone who is keen to get into helping him with training. He is looking for patient, fun loving humans that will help him learn what he can and can’t eat as he’s quite the rascal. He will need access to a private secure garden.

He is an absolute dream that is so full of joy,  and will make some people incredibly smitten with his happy go lucky nature and beautiful soul.  He’s one of a kind.

Adoption fee: £180 If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Medical history:

Jasper is neutered, fully vaccinated, flea and wormed.

Jasper has some skin issues that are managed by regular baths (which he is very good about).

He has had surgery on both of his legs so will need ongoing help to strengthen his muscles and improve his walking form. He will not be viable for insurance on his legs so please bear this in mind before applying as it could be something that may need attention in the future due to him being young when having the surgery.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
