Personality:
Check out our girl band of Degus – Hazel, Heather, Roxy & Sky! These inquisitive girls love to be kept busy and enjoy a good forage! Wooden or cardboard items are a favourite to nibble away at, or once all that energy is burned off, they love to snuggle down into their soft hammocks.
Behaviour:
Hazel, Heather, Roxy & Sky were fortunate enough to receive lots of positive handling and interaction in their last home, so are very used to this. These girls would require at least one meeting, as some are more confident than others, the staff can go over their individual personalities and discuss their requirements further.
Housing:
They are looking for a large enclosure with plenty of enriching levels and resources to encourage their natural behaviours. The size/type of enclosure can be discussed with staff. These girls are to be kept as a four and not to be bonded with other degus, due not getting along with other degus in their previous home. We’d advise plenty of research for first time owners.
Children/pets:
These degus can live around other pets, but to be kept separately. They can also live with children of secondary school age (11-18 years). Children must have adult supervision if handling/interacting with them.
Vet history:
Heather did arrive with a shorter tail in comparison to the others, this was likely from degloving in the previous home, but she is perfectly well and it doesn’t affect her welfare. Otherwise, the girls have no other medical issues.
Additional information:
All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the Degus.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
