Harriet

Name: Harriet

Age: 3 years old

Sex: Female

Breed: Chinchilla

Ref number: 16

Personality:
Harriet is a timid, yet curious, girl who will approach you in her own time once she’s comfortable and will settle for some strokes. She loves climbing through tunnels and jumping from her variety of platforms dotted about in her enclosure. When she’s not expelling some energy, Harriet likes to use a pillow case as a cozy hammock bed.

Behaviour:
Harriet can be nervous at times, especially around people she is not familiar with so will need a family who’ll be patient while they gain her trust.  Chinchillas are a crepuscular rodent and are more active during dawn and dusk and can be found sleeping for most of the day. Being native to the rocky slopes of the Andes mountains, they naturally sleep in rock crevices and small holes, therefore can be found sleeping in small tight spaces in their enclosures. Research on the species if required.

Housing:
Harriet is looking for a companion who can help her build some confidence in her future home, if you would be interested in bonding Harriet with your current chinchilla (female or neutered male) please contact the centre for more information on this. She will be looking for a large enclosure without wire flooring, please email your photos to enquiries@rspcasolent.org.uk to help speed up the process.

Children/pets:
Can live around dogs and cats, but to be kept separate. Children can be 10+ but need to be supervised when interacting/handling.

Vet history:
Harriet currently has no health issues and has had a full dental check.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £40. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the Chinchilla.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.
