My Personality

Hank is a lovely boy when he gets to know you. Information given by his previous owners tells us that he was rarely walked due to his size and strength, this has meant that he likely hasn’t had a lot of socialisation around other dogs and people. Due to his on-lead reactivity towards other dogs, Hank is one of our ‘complex’ dogs.

Here at the shelter Hank can be nervous of new people (especially men) and loud noises but is making great progress daily and has made lots of new friends here at the shelter.

Out on walks Hank can be incredibly strong on the lead (especially if he see’s a cat!) but we have been working on loose lead training. His new owners need to be prepared for his strength and understand that loose lead training will need to be continued in the home.

He is really food motivated and focuses well on the handler in a quiet environment and he loves to learn!

Hank can be reactive (barks and lunges) to other large dogs when on lead, but up close is generally friendly. Hank needs a gradual introduction to other dogs in a controlled manner, for it to be successful.

Once you get to know Hank, he is a goof ball and loves to run around and play with toys – for an experienced owner, especially with large breed dogs, Hank will be an amazing companion.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.
