Frodo & Bilbo

Name: Frodo & Bilbo

Age: 3 years

Sex: Males

Breed: Sheltie Guinea Pigs

Ref number: 1 & 2

Personality:
Meet our Frodo & Bilbo! These two chaps get along very well, who enjoy grazing away at their hay or once full, being cozied up in a bed or hidey house. They like a gentle comb of their long locks on a lap, once settled.

Behaviour:
From initial observations we have found these boys to be a bit nervous, especially when it came to close interaction. They will require a family who will be patient and provide a slow and calm approach in order to bond and gain their trust. Frodo is the most confident with being handled, with Bilbo gradually following in his footsteps, as he can shy away from this.

Housing:
These boys are looking for either an indoor or outdoor enclosure, which must be a minimum of 6ft x 2ft. This could be an indoor C&C pen or a large outdoor shed. Housing can be discussed with staff, but we do not rehome to hutches. They could be bonded with other female guinea pigs, but the enclosure size would need to accommodate the amount of piggies in the group.

Children/pets:
Frodo & Bilbo can live around other pets, but to be kept separately from them. They can also live with secondary school aged children (11-18 years). Young children must be supervised if interacting/handling the guinea pigs.

Vet history:
The boys have no current medical issues and have both been castrated. Bilbo’s castrate wound did take longer to heal than average, but has now recovered well. They will need to be groomed on a weekly basis due to their very long coats, to avoid matting.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £40. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the guinea pigs.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal.
