Name: Fred & George
Age: 1 year old
Sex: Male
Breed: Rex
Ref number: 4 & 5
Personality:
These two ginger brothers have grown in confidence since arriving in our care they are now ready to start their next adventure and build a bond with their new forever family/individual. Fred and George’s favourite time of the day is 4 o’clock when they can indulge in their favourite veggies like broccoli, spring greens and bell pepper and when they are not demanding their veg you will often find them zooming through their tunnels or snuggling in their igloo bed.
Behaviour:
Although these boys have already gained loads of confidence in our care like most guinea pigs they can still be quite unsure around handing so would need a family/individual that will be patient with them. As prey animals, Fred and George can get spooked easily around sudden noises so this will need to be taken into consideration while they settle in.
Housing:
They will require an enclosure of a minimum of 6ft x 2ft either indoors (such as a C&C pen) or outdoors (a large shed set up). A run/ pen for the garden on grass is recommended with a lid as well to ensure their safety. Fred and George can only be rehomed as a pair as George can sometime be a little bossy with Fred so we believe they wouldn’t work well with a group of females
Children/pets:
Can live around dogs/ cats, but to be kept in a separate room. They can also live with children of 8+ years, this is due to them being a bit nervous when being handled, and getting spooked easily so child supervision is advised when interacting.
Vet history:
When they first came into our care they both had really sore feet but this has improved with the help of soft bedding, they have also both been neutered and currently have no medical issues. Before getting neutered we noticed George had a growth under his eye and a callus on his foot, the growth healed up on its own and the callus was removed. They also require their anal glands to be checked and/ or cleaned regularly but this can be discussed with staff.
Additional information:
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the guinea pigs.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.
