Name: Betty Boop
Age: 9 years
Sex: Female
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Ref number: 164

Personality:
Betty Boop came into our care after she was sadly abandoned in a carrier. Initially she found the cattery environment really stressful, it quickly became apparent this was because she has partial, if any sight. As a result Betty Boop was moved out of the main cattery into a quite, flat unit and she has adapted incredibly well. She is a now a chatty and loving girl, who once she’s given you a good sniff loves to be stroked and have plenty of attention.

Behaviour:
Betty Boop is a big girl with an even bigger personality. When we go to see her she greets us by screaming at us until we’ve opened her unit door to say hello, she certainly enjoys a good natter! She will seek out your hand and give it a strong headbutt to initiate contact. She will even climb up onto staff and volunteers laps for a cuddle, where she will constantly purr. Betty Boop would love her new owners to be around most of the time to help her navigate through her new home and her new life. She will always finds the comfy spots to snooze on and even uses a scratching post well.

Housing:
Betty Boop would prefer a property on one level, either a flat or bungalow, as stairs could be difficult for her. Furniture and items in the property, along with all of her resources, will need to be kept in the same place so a stable and predictable environment is provided; this will also enable her to create and remember safe routes around the home. It would be beneficial for her to have access to the property one room at a time so she can take time to adjust to her new surroundings. If possible, Betty Boop would love a small private fully enclosed garden that she could enjoy supervised access in during fine weather. She cannot be homed in Gosport, PO12 area.

Children/pets:
Betty Boop needs to be the only pet in the property. She can live with older aged secondary school children. They will need to be calm and predictable at all times so they don’t startle her. As her sight is poor, this means she is heavily reliant on her heightened sense of hearing, so a quiet home is essential.

Vet history:
Betty Boop is neutered, microchipped, flea and wormed. Her second vaccination is due between 1st-7th October 2025 at the shelter and the cost is included in the adoption fee. It is likely Betty Boop has very limited, if any sight. She is currently comfortable and has adapted to her surroundings well. She has no other known medical conditions. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.
