Personality:
Meet our Rumi & Zoey, their sweet little girls, who can often feel rather shy. They are hoping their new family can ease them into the big wide world. They are usually found huddled together under their igloo house, after they’ve done a scan of their freshly made pen!
Behaviour:
In a quiet setting, Rumi & Zoey will happily explore their pen. But since their arrival, they are both very nervous girls and easily spooked. Unfortunately in their previous home, their confidence with socialisation took a turn, through no fault of their own. Previously they have been confident enough to approach for a tasty treat, and to ‘wheak!’ for their food, they are looking for a family who can provide a patient and calm approach, to help them gain back their confidence and come out of their shells. We think they might do best in a larger group where the attention isn’t all on them.
Housing:
These girls are looking for either an indoor or outdoor enclosure, which must be a minimum size of 6ft x 2ft (for two piggies). This could be a C&C pen or a large outdoor shed. Housing can be discussed with staff, but we do not rehome to hutches. They can be rehomed as they are, or they could be bonded with a single neutered male guinea pig or more females, but accommodation would need to be at least 6ft x 3ft or 9ft x 2ft for 3 piggies (or larger dependent on total number of guinea pigs).
Children/pets:
They can live around other pets, but need to be kept separately. Rumi & Zoey can also live with children of secondary school age and above (11-18 years). Younger children must have adult supervision if interacting/handling them.
Vet history:
Rumi & Zoey have been cleared by our vet & have no current medical issues.
Additional information:
All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the guinea pigs.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
