Personality:
Bilbo is a friendly and curious chap when in a calm and quiet environment he enjoys approaching his human friends for interaction on his level, or a cuddle on your lap for a gentle groom gets him rumbling! He desperately seeks to munch away at his hay with a female companion.
Behaviour:
Bilbo initially lived with a male (Frodo), but unfortunately they had to be split due to fighting. Staff noticed that Bilbo was particularly nervous around Frodo, we believe a new female friend will bring Bilbo out of his shell even more and boost his confidence. Bilbo will require at least one meeting where staff can discuss his requirements and the bonding. If applicable, children will need to be included on the meet, due to his timid nature.
Housing:
Accommodation can either be an indoor or outdoor enclosure, which must be a minimum of 6ft x 2ft (for two piggies). This could be an indoor C&C pen or a large outdoor shed. Housing can be discussed with staff, but we do not rehome to hutches. He must be bonded with at least one female guinea pig (or more), but the enclosure size would need to accommodate the amount of piggies in the group.
Children/pets:
Bilbo can live around other pets, but to be kept separately from them. He can be rehomed with primary school aged children (5-11 years), but young children must be supervised if interacting/handling them.
Vet history:
Bilbo has no current medical issues and has been castrated, this did take longer to heal than average, but has now recovered well. He will need to be groomed on a weekly basis due to his long coat, to avoid matting.
Additional information:
All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the guinea pig.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
