Name: Hank
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
Breed: Guinea Pig
Ref number: 7
Personality:
This is Hank, one of our more reserved boys at times, but particularly enjoys calm interactions with his humans on his level. He’s eager to come out of his shell, and in his own time, he loves to forage for herbs in his hay.
Behaviour:
Initially Hank arrived in our care being housed with another male guinea pig, unfortunately they had to be split for repeated fighting. He is looking to find companionship with a female, which we feel will aid with his confidence as he can be a little shy and spooked with handling. Hank will require at least one meeting where staff can discuss his requirements, and answer any questions about the bonding. If applicable, children will need to be included on a meet, due to his current nervous nature.
Housing:
Hank is looking for either an indoor or outdoor enclosure, which must be a minimum of 6ft x 2ft (for two guinea pigs). This can be an indoor C&C pen or a large outdoor shed/wendy house. Housing can be discussed with staff, but we do not rehome to hutches. He needs to be bonded with at least one female piggie or more, but the enclosure size would need to accommodate the amount of piggies in the group. The ability to provide secure time in the garden on grass is preferred.
Children/pets:
Hank can live around other pets, but to be kept separately. He can also live with children of primary school age (5-11 years), but young children must have adult supervision if interacting/handling the guinea pigs.
Vet history:
Hank currently has no medical issues and has been castrated. During his castration there were some complications, and in the healing stage an abscess did form near his genitals, which was treated and has recovered well. A pre-condition form will be provided, so that his new family can monitor this, if this abscess returned. Staff can provide further details, if needed.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the guinea pig.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.
