Name: Butter
Age: 3 years
Sex: Male
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Ref number: 53
Personality:
Butter is a worried boy who struggled with the cattery environment. He is currently in a foster home where he is provided with space so that he feels more confident to access his resources. Butter is still wary of his carer, but he feels brave enough to explore when she is sat watching tv.
Behaviour:
Butter likes the safety of his own unused room. He enjoys watching out the window at the surroundings. He sometimes explores the rest of the house when its quiet but can be easily spooked so he will run back to his room. Butter’s foster carer gives him plenty of space and uses a hands off approach to give Butter choice and control over his interactions. Butter has not wanted to interact with his foster carer and keeps a safe distance.
Housing:
Due to Butter coming from a multi-cat household, it is unknown whether he has had much positive interaction with people, for this reason he would prefer to have a spacious house/bungalow set up where he can have his own unused room downstairs (e.g. dining room); to eventually allow easy access to a garden. Considerations can be made for adopters who have a unused room upstairs. Alternative option can be a safe, secure, sheltered outbuilding or shed. This can be in a spacious garden or an alternative similar set up. Their adopters will need to use a hands off approach. It may be that they will prefer to live permanently like this but they may gradually build trust with their owners and surroundings and choose to live a more conventional lifestyle in a home.
Children/pets:
Butter will need to be the only pet onsite/ in the household due to his strong disliking in his previous home. Butter will need to be cared for by adults only. Visiting children considered depending on individual space and circumstances. They will need to be supervised at all times.
Vet history:
Butter is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Butter has no known medical conditions. Butter has been on some medication to help him relax while in our care. This will be provided for his new home and a plan will be given on how to gradually wean him off of this. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.
