Name: Spud
Age: 2 years
Sex: Male
Breed: American Bulldog
Ref number: 127
Personality:
Meet Spud, our fun, friendly snugly American bulldog who has tons of energy and just as much love to give. Spud loves his human friends and doesn’t know how big he is because he enjoys sitting on your lap for a fuss. He loves his toys, particularly tennis balls and is also very foody which makes him a joy to train. He would love to be part of a home where he can go on lots of long walks and adventures and make friends with suitably matched dogs.
Behaviour:
We don’t know much about Spuds past but he can be nervous and may flinch at sudden movements so benefits from a slow hands off approach at first and calm interactions. He has shown some typical ‘Bully’ traits and can get over excited at times so would benefit from having an experienced confident handler who is also able to manage his strength and provide him with suitable exercise and mental stimulation.
Housing:
Spud will need a private enclosed garden where he can let off steam and will also need a minimum of 2 walks each day due to being a high energy dog. He has shown signs of being worried about being left alone so will need someone to be with him all the time at first and slowly increase the time he is able to be left but he will make a fantastic, fun and loving companion to someone who has the time and space for him in their home.
Children/pets:
Due to having limited information on Spuds history he should live in an adult only home, however, we would consider a home with older secondary school age children who are used to large bull breeds and understand or are willing to learn dog body language. Due to having a high prey drive Spud should be the only animal in the home however he likes other dogs and could make doggy friends on his walks.
Vet history:
Spud has mild luxating patella’s on both back legs however this doesn’t affect him and he is expected to live a normal life, full details will be provided to any potential adopters. He is fully vaccinated, up to date with flea and worming treatment and will need to return to the centre at the appropriate time to be castrated.
