Name: Claude
Age: 6 years
Sex: Male
Breed: Shih Tzu cross
Ref number: 106

Personality:
Claude is a sensitive, shy boy who has unfortunately not seen much of the outside world before coming to us. Despite Claude’s difficult start to life, he finds comfort in his handlers and has formed very close bonds. The staff have really fallen in love with his sweet nature and need to be close to you. If you are looking for a companion to cuddle up next to you on the sofa, then Claude may be the dog for you!

Behaviour:
Claude is very worried about walking on lead at the moment and is looking for an adopter who can continue his socialisation and training in his new home. Claude is an anxious dog who looks to his handlers for reassurance very frequently. He will jump up often when walking and this shows us that he finds the outside world quite scary. He would thrive in a quiet home where he can explore in his own time. Claude absolutely loves to sit on your lap and have a fuss. His affectionate nature would make him the best buddy! If you have experience with nervous dogs then we would love to hear from you.

Housing:
Claude will need a private, fully enclosed garden so he can build his confidence in his own time. He’s not ready to go for daily walks yet, but we hope with time he will begin to enjoy a quiet potter. Claude will need an adopter who is at home for most of the day, he currently shows signs of separation anxiety so will need to be gradually introduced to time on his own.

Children/pets:
Claude could live with cats and small animals that are used to presence of a dog. He may benefit from living with another calm, confident dog to show him the ropes. Due to Claude’s nervous disposition, he cannot live with young children and will need an adult only home.

Vet history:
Claude is up to date with flea, worming and vaccinations. He will need to be returned to the shelter once he is settled, to be castrated.
