Name: Hamish & Poppy
Age: Adult
Sex: Male & Female
Breed: Kune Kune
Ref number: 7 & 8

Personality:
Hamish and Poppy are a sociable pair who love to spend their days rooting, rolling in their wallow and snoozing away. Hamish and Poppy came from an environment that became too boggy and unsuitable for them to stay. Now, they are flourishing in their new paddock, where their love to be inquisitive is expressed finding food in tyres and activity feeders.

Behaviour:
Hamish and Poppy are a curious duo who will always come running to the entrance gate of their field, to see who has come to visit them. Due to being hand fed in their previous home, they can become over aroused around food. Hamish and Poppy are thriving on a predictable feeding routine and staff will visit them at other times of the day without resources. The staff have seen huge improvement in their skills to be independent and find food from the environment, rather than the handler.

Housing:
Pigs are intelligent social animals, so must stay together in their pair. They will need to continue to have the opportunity to root, wallow and find shelter. Their shelter must be accessible at all times and will need to be insulated, with a clean, dry, well bedded area for them to rest whenever they choose. Hamish and Poppy with need a safe enclosed area with strong fencing to ensure they cannot escape. Post and rail and stock fencing will be required, or other well established fencing can be considered. Your CPH number will be required upon application. Transportation of the pigs can be supported by The Ark, providing it is within one hour of the shelter.

Children/pets:
Due to Hamish and Poppy’s arousal around food, they should be homed with secondary school children only who will be understanding of their needs.

Vet history:
Medically cleared.
