Dave & Gordon

Name: Dave & Gordon

Age: Senior

Sex: Male

Breed: Emden Geese

Ref number: 2 & 3

Personality:
These boys love their food and you’ll find them sunbathing on the bank of the pond on a nice sunny day. Both Dave and Gordon have got a good sense for nearby danger! Gordon is a big goose, so he is always quick to warn Dave if there is something going on, even though he isn’t as vocal he is the biggest. Dave is our very own alarm and he’ll let everyone know about stranger danger and make himself as big as he can if predators are around.

Behaviour:
Geese are territorial animals, however both are good around cleaning and will happily take themselves away to another area of the pond so the staff can clean their sleeping area. These guys do not like being handled and are much better off being left to their own devices, but they are used to being handled when it comes to being health checked and weighed. Due to the nature of Dave and Gordon, experience with poultry birds is preferred, however if the applicant doesn’t have this or has minimal geese experience then a few meetings with the boys and the staff will be required to better understand the boys, discuss their requirements and any further questions you may have.

Housing:
Dave and Gordon will need to have access to an outside area with water to bathe in. They will need a large shelter such as a stable or shed to be able to go in at night and to shelter from the elements when they wish to. Types of accommodation can be discussed with staff.

Children/pets:
These geese can live with other animals/pets, but are to be kept seperate. They can also live with children of secondary school age (11-18+ years), but would require adult supervision with the younger aged children if interacting.

Vet history:
The boys previously came in with poor feather condition, but have since shed those ones and have cleaned up very nicely! They also had small amounts of bumblefoot, this has since much improved however still remains a little therefore their new home would require areas of softer flooring and not just hard surfaces only.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £20. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the Geese.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal.
