Hendrix

Name: Hendrix

Age: 4 years

Sex: Male

Breed: Great Dane

Ref number: 35

Personality:
Hendrix is a gentle giant who has done really well in building his confidence since arriving at the Ark. He’s a friendly boy who can be a little worried at times but works through this well with his trusted people. He is a staff favourite for sure, he loves to lean on you for a fuss and really thrives around people.

Behaviour:
Hendrix struggles with separation anxiety and will howl when left. He will need someone around all the time especially when settling into his new home and any potential adopters will need to be prepared to make adjustments for this. We do believe he could eventually learn to be left for short periods but this would need to be built up very gradually.
Hendrix is an incredibly large dog (his photos do not do him justice, he weighs 75kg!) so will need competent owners who are prepared to potentially make adaptations to their house to accommodate Hendrix’s long legs! Although Hendrix does walk well on the lead, he can at times pull, so will need physically capable owners who are able to manage him. Hendrix loves to gallop in an off lead area so would LOVE a large garden to run around in. Hendrix is doing well learning to be calm when passing other dogs, however can still whine/pull towards at times.

Housing:
Due to his size Hendrix will need a large home and garden that is fully secured. Potential adopters will ideally have experience with large breed dogs.

Children/pets:
After further assessment we feel Hendrix could live with primary school age children but will need to be the only pet in the home. Hendrix would benefit from being introduced to dogs slowly.

Vet history:
Hendrix is up to date on flea, worming and vaccinations. He has a history of skin issues from his previous home but this has been stable since before arriving at the Ark.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £220. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal.
