Max

Name: Max

Age: 4 years approx

Sex: Male

Breed: Domestic Semi Long Hair

Ref number: 88

Personality:
Max has had a very stressful few years before being abandoned and coming into our care. It is clear to see he has had very little, or no handling. He found the cattery environment incredibly stressful and is currently in a foster home where he still actively chooses to avoid people. Once Max feels he has choice and control of his surroundings, he absolutely thrives and it’s lovely to see him exhibit normal cat behaviours. For this reason he is looking for an alternative lifestyle.

Behaviour:
Max will hide away whenever he hears people; when they enter his room he will give a little grumble to ensure they respect his boundaries and give him space. However, once they have left and he knows he’s on his own, our camera footage shows he is straight out and exploring his room, eating, playing with toys and grooming himself so he remains looking as handsome as ever. Max is desperate to have the freedom an outside lifestyle provides, whilst still having someone to feed him and care for him from a distance.

Housing:
Max is looking for a fully enclosed, safe and secure outbuilding, which can be in the form of a garage, shed or summerhouse, which will be provided with all the necessary resources he needs such as fresh food, water and comfort. He will need to initially spend approximately 2 weeks shut inside his new accommodation to enable him to learn where home now is. The outbuilding will need to be a permanent place for Max so that he always has a sheltered area to go to, with warmth provided in the winter months. Max cannot be homed in the SO19 area of Southampton. Support will be provided by the cattery and behaviour team to ensure you have the correct setup, and to help with his planned release into the outside world.

Children/pets:
Max will need to be cared for by adults only. However, children can be present within the household of the adoptees, providing they are supervised at all times and understand Max is not a typical pet cat so they should always keep a safe distance away.

Vet history:
Max is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Max has been on some medication to help him relax while in our care. This will be provided for his new owners and a plan will be given on how to gradually wean him off of this before being released. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £50. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal.
