Name: Lucy & Maximus
Age: 1+ year
Sex: Female and Male
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier/Poodle
Ref number: 10 & 12
Personality:
Meet our Fallout pair, Lucy and Maximus! They are our adorable sweet-natured little terriers. They unfortunately have not had the best start to life, and have never seen the outside world before coming to the centre. It has taken them several weeks to settle in here and form bonds with the staff, although they are still very nervous, they get excited to see their friends. They are still learning how to navigate the world but they are doing so well!
Behaviour:
Due to Lucy and Maximus being very nervous they will need a calm and slow approach to handling. They have been introduced to a lead but are not yet walking around the outside world. They are doing really well at gradually coming out of their shell, but they are looking for an adopter who can continue their slow and gradual socialisation at home, along with training. Both Lucy and Maximus enjoy a gentle fuss from trusted handlers and are very playful with one another. Maximus does try to steal Lucy’s food therefore they would have to be fed separately.
Housing:
Lucy and Maximus will need a private, fully enclosed garden so they can build confidence in their own time. They are nervous and can shy away from sudden movements, so this lovely pair is looking for a quiet home. They are not ready to go for daily walks yet, but we hope with time they will begin to enjoy a quiet potter. Support will be given around Lucy’s and Maximus’ training and how to help them grow in confidence. Lucy and Maximus’ new owners will need to be able to come up to the shelter a few times to meet the pair before they can be adopted. If you have experience with nervous dogs, we would love to hear from you!
Children/pets:
This lovely pair is looking to be the only pets in the house, although we think they would benefit from having a calm walking buddy when they are ready. They would also need an adult only quiet house.
Vet history:
Both of them are fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and worm treatment. Maximus will have to return to the centre to be neutered once he has settled.
