Name: Couscous
Age: 1 year
Sex: Male
Breed: Dachshund/Terrier
Ref number: 145
Personality:
Couscous is a lovely boy who has not had the best start to life. We are now looking for his forever home where he can continue his training and socialisation. Couscous is happy to say hello to staff he knows and is learning to enjoy affection. Couscous loves his toys and will play with them on his own and with you. He is a high energy little dog who loves training and playing but he is also happy to settle by himself with a chew.
Behaviour:
Couscous would love an experienced owner who is able to read dog body language. Couscous has had some negative experiences with handling in the past and this has made him a little fearful when it comes to having affection or his harness being applied. He has made some great progress whilst with us but his new adopters will have to be willing to continue this in the home. Couscous would love to have some doggy friends to play with eventually but has had little socialisation previously. He can get vocal on lead and takes a minute to calm down. Couscous will need a good walk a day where he can run around and sniff on a long line. He loves his food and is very responsive to training with his handlers, he would make a great little agility dog!
Housing:
Couscous would love a private garden to run around and play in. Initially, Couscous will need someone around for the majority of the day. He could learn to be left for a couple of hours.
Children/pets:
He would be best suited to an adult only home, as we have no previous history on how he would behave around children. Couscous would love to have some doggy friends to walk with but currently needs to be the only animal in the home.
Vet history:
Couscous will need to return to the shelter to be castrated when he is settled.
Additional information:
All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.
