Rehoming – Profile

Tika was originally brought into the shelter as a stray. This means we unfortunately have no history on her previous life.

Behaviour observations on site:

Tika is a beautiful girl who loves being around people and loves a fuss. She loves to play with toys inside and focus’ well when there is little distraction around her. Tika is a big strong girl, who is looking for an experienced owner, willing to continue her  loose lead training, as currently she can be strong on lead.

Tika seems well socialised out and about, things like traffic and bikes do not seem to bother her. She is curious of other dogs, and tends to pull towards them to say hello when passing. We feel at this point however, she would be better suited to an only pet, but may enjoy having doggy friends to meet from time to time.

Tika has a very high prey drive for small animals, such as squirrels and birds, which she will pull towards (at which point she is very strong). Akita enthusiasts will know this to be a common trait of the breed!

Tika is responding very well to basic training here at the shelter, but her new owners must be keen to carry this on at home. It is unknown how she behaves in a home environment, so her new family will have to allow her plenty of time to settle in. Tika is, however, clean in her kennel, which may indicate she is house trained.

Tika will make a fantastic adventure buddy, she loves to be outside exploring, and will need lots of long walks to keep her happy! As much as she loves to be outside, she will also be happy to keep you company on the sofa in the evenings.

Cannot be rehomed to Whitely or Southampton

Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £180

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.
