Sheldon

Name: Sheldon

Age: 2 Years

Sex: Male

Breed: Rottweiler

Ref number: 64

Personality:
Our gorgeous boy Sheldon is a big playful lump and a joy to be around. After not being exposed to much of the outside world before coming into us, understandably Sheldon can be worried by strangers and some dogs. Sheldon has been living in a foster home recently and this has allowed us to learn a lot about his behaviour. His foster carer reports that he is fully toilet trained, sleeps downstairs in a crate and can be left for up to 2 hours (once settled). He has become very playful with toys which is lovely to see and he is a loyal, affectionate boy. Sheldon’s new family will have to be experienced with large breeds as Sheldon plays quite rough and can be boisterous at times.

Behaviour:
Sheldon is a pleasure to work with and learns really quickly.  He is good with his people he knows and makes friends quickly but he can be reactive to strangers and can sometimes bark and lunge. He is a big boy so would need someone strong enough to hold onto him and who is prepared to make space from people when needed.  Sheldon has been learning to wear a muzzle and we advise he wears this if he is walking near people he does not know.

Housing:
Sheldon would benefit from a large private garden which he can easily access throughout the day. We are asking for experience of Rottweilers or a similar guarding breed and a good understanding of dog body language and a commitment to training. Sheldon would do well in a quiet household who can dedicate lots of time to him. He cannot be rehomed to the PO9 area.

Children/pets:
Sheldon cannot live with children or have any visiting children under the age of 18 to the house. Sheldon will need to be the only pet in the house.

Vet history:
Sheldon has a stage 4 heart murmur, he will need to have check ups every 6 months and a heart scan annually. Indications show Sheldon could live a normal life with this for many years but there is a chance he may need medication in the future which would not be covered by insurance. Adopters would be provided with full details on how to manage this going forward. Sheldon has been very well behaved for all of his vet visits so far. He has been castrated and is up to date with Flea and Worming treatment.

Adoption fee:
The adoption fee is £220. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant.

Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal
