Rehoming – Profile

Pumpkin was signed over to us at the end of last year due to his owner no longer being able to provide sufficient care.

Behaviour observations on site:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Pumpkin has spent the last 7 months in a foster home where he has undergone a massive lifestyle change to help him loose weight. Pumpkin weighed an enormous 54kg when he arrived at the shelter, making him severely obese, he found it difficult to walk and had very little energy. Today, after months of rehabilitation with our vet team and his foster carer, Pumpkin now weighs 31kg! He still has a little way to go but has found a new lease of life and now loves his long walks along the beach.

Pumpkin has a wonderful nature and is a super friendly chap who greets everyone like a long lost friend. He is great on and off the lead and mixes well with other dogs (that are respectful) when out. He would however, prefer to be an only dog in the home, as he enjoys a quiet life! Pumpkin could however live with a dog-savvy cat, with a slow introduction.

Pumpkin is happy to be left for 3-4 hours on his own, but does love human company.

Pumpkin is a lovely dog who will make a family incredibly happy. He has such a lovable character.

Medical history:

Pumpkin loves his food, but it is now incredibly important that his weight is kept steady, and it is maintained on a good diet. He is currently fed on a low-calorie food, and this should be continued until the last few lbs have dropped! He is also on ear cleaner to keep ear infections at bay.

Pumpkin is currently on medication to help relieve arthritis in his joints. He may need to be on this long term.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Cannot be rehomed to the Southampton or Lee-On Solent area.
