Mary

Name: Mary

Age: 1 year 6 months

Sex: Female

Breed: DSH

Ref number: 117

Mary is a nervous girl who takes her time to come out of her shell. She often likes to observe from a distance and once she feels ready she will begin to make friends with staff. She finds new environments quite stressful but tends to find a comfy space she can settle and watch the world go by.

Although Mary can be shy, once she trusts you, she shows the sweet side to her and will rub around you for affection. Due to her nervousness, we let Mary come to us when she wants attention but once she’s comfortable around you, she enjoys gentle stokes, particularly head scratches. Mary does love her dreamies so it is a good way to build up that trust. Mary does have a bit of a sassy side when she’s conflicted as to what she wants, so she sometimes will hiss and give a gentle bop to let you know when she wants her space. Its often not long before she’s rubbing around your legs again.

Mary does prefer the safety of her unit and finds new surroundings a little scary, so for this reason she will need her own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. She cannot be homed in Southampton (so14 area).

Due to Mary’s nervous nature, she will need to be the only pet in the household. She is looking for an adult only home who will be prepared to give her own time and space and follow Mary’s lead by building a bond at her pace and on her own terms.

Mary is neutered, microchipped, flea and wormed. Her second vaccination is due between 4/10/24 – 10/10/24 at the shelter and the cost is included in the adoption fee.

4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.

The adoption fee is £80. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

Additional information:

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.
