My Personality

Gruffalo is a quirky little boy who is seeking a really special home. It can take Gruffalo several meetings before he feels relaxed around new people, as he has had an uncertain past with little stability. Due to this, Gruffalo unfortunately finds all handling a bit daunting, especially grooming and vet visits, and in the past, has bitten in these situations. Gruffalo is therefore seeking a very experienced, adult only home who are looking for a dog that they can give lots of time to. Gruffalo is undergoing muzzle training and this must to be continued in the home,  in order to keep a positive association up, as he will need to wear it regularly. He has also been exposed to grooming training, and is being desensitised to being brushed so that he finds it less daunting (he is a breed that unfortunately needs regular grooming, so its very important that he continues to learn to enjoy being brushed) Gruffalo can also be reactive on lead, around both people and dogs. It is therefore paramount that Gruffalo is managed safely when outside. This includes walking him in quieter areas and keeping him muzzled in busier places. Gruffalo’s socialisation with other dogs will also need to be continued as part of his training plan, and new adopters must be happy to visit the shelter multiple times in order to be shown this. Gruffalo is currently on some medication for skin and ear issues, so adopters should consider the fact that this may be an ongoing cost which will not be covered by insurance. As complex as Gruffalo seems, we are really confident that the right patient and loving owner is out there for him as he deserves the absolute best. His scruffy face and cheeky grin will make somebody smile every day!

Cannot be rehome to Gosport.
